Reviews
I rarely write reviews, but this one deserves a 5 star.
Patti Kiernan is one of those rare people who leaves big tracks walking thru your life….A rare professional who 30 years later still holds my highest esteem and trust with my dog . Not once over 30 years and 6 dogs has she ever slipped up or let me down. I’m just a dog owner who loves my retriever and wanted a better hunting dog. An incredible coach, for your own obstacles to having a well rounded dog, you will not be disappointed with her ability to take your young dog forward or take your rescue dog and rehabilitate it. It is my understanding she’s retired from the Hunter Trial world and is re-focusing on rescue dogs and gun dogs for amateurs only in her semi retirement….
Her new beautiful property in Oregon, is quiet and the acreage completely fenced for k-9 safety. She recently is working with my young dog Claire, the 6th dog for me, revolving issues I created and helping us with out 2026 bucket list of master level hunt tests. While Claire and I are reaching above our pay grade, I’m hopeful with continued lessons and guidance from Patti.
Anyone wanting dog training would be lucky to find her. Especially now, semi-retired, offering pointed training to only 1 or 2 dogs at a time.

From the day we picked up clover as an 8 week old puppy and met Patti, it was clear that Patti was the one who would be training our dog.
I had a dream of owning a well trained bird dog and Patti helped me make that dream come true with her knowledge and experience with not only retriever training, but obedience training as well.
Patti didn’t just train our dog she trained us as well. She very clear in her ways of training and taking the time to explain what she’s doing and why she’s doing it. The results have been night and day. Our dog is more confident, responsive, and calm, and we finally feel in control instead of stressed. Most importantly our dog is happy and excited to train.
If you’re looking for a good dog trainer, Patti Kieran is the best around. There is no problem too big or too small and with her decades of knowledge and expertise you will not be disappointed!

I met Patti quite by chance while I was solo training my black lab Abby for the sport of hunt test. She introduced herself and kindly offered to let me join her training session with another client. As someone new to the sport, I figured she might regret that offer-but that couldn’t have been further from the truth.
Even though Patti is well known for training high-level field dogs, she is incredibly down to earth. She never made me feel self-conscious about being a beginner. Instead, she quickly gave me valuable insight into what I was doing that was helping my dog and how I could better communicate what I wanted her to do. The change in my field work that day was immediate.
Since the happy accident of meeting Patti, I have trained with her one on one. She understands my level of experience and adjusts our training accordingly. She is encouraging and makes training sessions fun for both Abby and me.
Training with Patti has been a positive experience, and the results are absolutely showing in the field. I’m truly grateful for her guidance and support. If you are looking for someone to help you train your dog, I recommend reaching out to Patti!
